Presidents Message

Kickin’ with DFAC Soccer in 2008!

    Dear Coaches, Players and Parents,

Let me be the first to welcome you to the 2008 – 2009 soccer season!  Whether you are just beginning in the U4 program or college bound on a competitive Elite team, you are about to become a member of one of the largest soccer programs in Arizona.  This year, our Desert Elite Developmental/Competitive Program will once again consist of 25-30 teams, representing Divisions U7 through U18.  Our internal league will support over 90 teams, for players in U4 – U14 divisions.  With over 1200 players on the field each weekend; it all adds up to a lot of soccer being played!

As for our in-house Desert Foothills Soccer League (DFSL), the U4 Soccer-Tots Academy is a fun, clinic format, run by a member of the DFAC pro training staff.  Our U6 micro-soccer program has a unique format, which seems to be fun for all as teams rotate on game nights.  The DFSL will also include U8 through U14 divisions.  Older teams may play in partnership with an adjacent club.

The Desert Elite Developmental/Competitive Program continues to be one of the fastest growing programs in the valley, and will focus on supporting young players who are developing their skills, as well as, all players demanding a higher level of commitment. Elite teams will compete with the top teams across the state, with older teams ending their seasons with the National and State Cup Tournaments in March.  All teams in the Desert Elite Program will play in a valley wide league.  Our Pro staff of 10 trainers will provide training under the direction of Rick Tilmans, our Director of Coaching.

Field space is the biggest issue facing our community, and us, and is one of our top priorities.  We continue to work with the Cave Creek School District and the City of Phoenix to develop new fields and park sites in our community.  You may have seen new fields underway at Tatum/Cave Creek, to be complete this season.  Lighting was added to the Horseshoe Trails soccer field, which we plan to upgrade this season.  The school district will also be building a new field at Black Mountain Elementary School which will become one of our main home fields.  We are attempting to raise the required funds to support field development through several fundraising activities and donated services.  Please contribute as you are able during registration.  Whenever you have the opportunity, please express your concerns over field availability/quality to the appropriate community officials.  With issues facing our kids today, youth athletics is one of the best ways to support their positive development…and it all starts with a place to play!

The Desert Foothills Soccer Club Board of Directors encourages you to maximize your enjoyment of this season by participating in team or league activities.  Please support your coaches’ request for assistance.  We would also welcome your participation with league activities, and don’t forget your tax-free donations to support our field needs.  This is a great way to meet your neighbors and support your community.  Please call 480-488-8485 and leave a message or contact one of our board members if interested.  You may also email us at dfacsoccer@hotmail.com
