Referees are an integral part of DFAC. We need referees of all ages and certification levels for our in-house recreational program and our home games for Desert Elite Youth Academy and Port of Subs Open League. Most games are held at Desert Willow Park, several fields near Cactus Shadows High School, and Desert Broom Park.
Referee Certification
Referees are required to be USSF certified and must re-certify annually. The Arizona State Referee Administration offers referee certification classes. You can check for current class offerings and register at www.azref.com.
Grassroots Referee:
The Grassroots Referee is certified to work as either an Assistant Referee or a Center Referee on all youth soccer games (recreational or competitive). We are in great need of soccer-knowledgeable, physically-fit kids age 13 and older to work with both recreational (younger refs) and older youth soccer games (older refs). Certificiation includes first passing the Online Training course, then completing a Field Training class.

* Desert Foothills Athletic Club usually sponsors a Field Session Class in August at Sonoran Trails Middle School Gym (5445 East Pinnacle Vista Drive, Phoenix, AZ 85054). This class should run from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm.
Once you are certified, contact Brett Lincoln, our referee assignor, at [email protected] to be included in the pool of referees.
